Sharing the stage with Tommy Ramone
I had the great honor to share the stage with Tommy Ramone of the Ramone's last Saturday night. His new bluegrass/country band called
Uncle Monk played it's fourth show ever with The M Shanghai String Band and it was great. Tommy ripped some mandolin solos with us on the third set and blew us all away. The whole time I couldn't believe I was on stage with a Ramone. A true blast.

M Shanghai String Band About to Sign Record Deal
There hasn't been much activity in 'the grocery concern' world because I have been so busy working with my other band,
The M Shanghai String Band. Well, the band is about to sign a deal with
Red Parlor records, so I will probably continue to not have any time to devote to this endeavor. However that doesn't mean it will go away. Many of my songs are being performed with MSSB and I will post some of them on this site.
Thank you for listening and PEACE.

moving upstate
well, after almost 8 years in Brooklyn NY, my family and I are moving up to the lovely Hudson Valley. namely Beacon, NY. I will now base my musical ambition there. of course I will still play in all the outstanding bands with the amazing talent that I have had the great fortune to know (
m shanghai string band, will scott trio, kristin mueller, rose thomson, vpn) and will still play shows as
the grocery concern, as well as start a new project with my good friend Curtis Harvey, formerly of
Rex, the Letter E and
Pullman. Curtis has been in bands with members of
June of 44 and
Tortoise and I'm very excited to start a new project with him. Curtis and I used to play together as the
Curtis Harvey Trio until his children led him to relocate to Beacon. I'm looking forward to playing with him again.

m shanghai string band records!
the
m shanghai string band has recorded 23 songs in one day at M Shanghai Bistro. I'm very excited about it! We recorded everything live, all at once, with no overdubs. Got every song in under 4 takes. It was engineered by our mandolin player, Richard Morris. Listen to my song,
Save One Tomorrow as performed by the M Shanghai String Band
on the jukebox or the
remote jukebox or
download the mp3. This version is bouncier than the original.
