the grocery concern is Harrison Cannon's first solo project after the break up of his North Carolina band, 'Geezer Lake'. After Geezer Lake's demise in 1997, Harrison and his wife moved from Greensboro NC to New York City. They settled in Williamsburg Brooklyn for seven years, had a baby and have now relocated somewhere in upstate New York.

Find out more about Geezer Lake.

Once in Brooklyn, Harrison started playing in many projects as a side man and remained very busy playing shows and recording. His main instrument has always been the bass (acoustic and electric) and his talents on the upright bass are often requested, although he is a semi-proficient piano and guitar player.

In the past he's played and recorded with Eric Bachmann (of Archers of Loaf and Crooked Fingers), Ben Folds (of Ben Folds Five and solo), Sean Meadows (of June of 44), Matt Schickele (of Beekeeper and solo), Karla Schickele (of Ida, Beekeeper and k.), Tim Thomas (of Babe the Blue Ox) and Rachel Loshak (solo). Currently he is playing with Rose Thomson (of Babe the Blue Ox and solo), Will Scott (solo), Curtis Harvey (of Rex, Pullman and The Letter E) and the band very pleasant neighbor ('vpn') playing electric bass, acoustic bass and keyboards.

He also plays upright bass for and coordinates the M Shanghai String Band, which is an old timey, folk and bluegrass band that got their start playing monthly gigs at the M Shanghai Den.

Harrison has toured extensively with Geezer Lake, Matt Schickele, Karla Schickele, very pleasant neighbor and Curtis Harvey and has recorded with producers Bob Weston (Sebadoh, June of 44, Polvo), Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Califone), Caleb Southern (Ben Folds Five, Archers of Loaf), Jerry Kee (Polvo, Superchunk, Portastatic), Tony Lockwood (Matt Schickele, k., the malarkies), among others.

After many years of playing other peoples music, the grocery concern has turned Harrison's focus to crafting his own songs mostly on the piano and guitar. Songs about love, being married, political frustration, life in New York, struggling to pay the bills, trying to hold on to his dreams and his son.

Harrison jokes, "I just want to be in Wilco or Radiohead." His songwriting style reflects his heros, John Lennon, Tom Waits, Jeff Mangum (Neutral Milk Hotel), Jeff Tweedy (Wilco), Chan Marshall (Cat Power), Neil Young, Thom Yorke (Radiohead), among many others. His deeply personal songs resonate a touching and simple quality which reflect the daily struggles and frustrations of being a father and musician along with the optimism and joy. "Save One Tomorrow" examines the dichotomy between these two lifestyles, one who is playing shows, following creative passions without monetary compensation and the other who enjoys being at home with his wife and son where a smile is all the compensation he needs. Other songs simply explore the quiet night sky while sitting on a "Porch Swing".
